"The Home of Rock Shrimp" (the shrimp that tastes like lobster), Dixie Crossroads specializes in unique "Wild Ocean Shrimp" caught by a fleet of commercial shrimp boats. Inside the dining rooms Dixie Crossroads is a virtual art gallery; large wildlife murals, photography, stained and etched glass, and even concrete sculptures that portray this region's unique habitats, plants and animals. Outside you'll find plenty of artist Al Rao's wildlife murals, fishponds, fountains, and waterfalls.

Florida's Seafood Bar and Grill serves big shrimp, regular shrimp, rock shrimp, lobsters, snow crabs, scallops, and for those who don't like their food swimming before they eat it, steak, prime rib and chicken. How could I leave out fresh oysters, prepared in over a dozen different ways, right at Cocoa Beach's largest oyster bar.

Back in 1993, Rusty's Seafood & Oyster Bar was created as a cozy, come-as-you-are, fun filled alternative to Bernard's Surf and its fine dining atmosphere. You can relax from the minute you walk in. Take a seat at the oyster bar, outside on the large wood deck overlooking the water, or enjoy the inside A/C. Then dive into the raw or steamed oysters, peel-and-eat shrimp, seared ahi tuna, buffalo wings, or a hearty bowl of seafood gumbo or clam chowder.

After almost forty years, the Shack is still serving up Brevard's freshest seafood and steaks. In a time of strip malls and drive-thru take-out, it's refreshing to find a place that's been able to preserve its old Florida riverfront charm. The view is still majestic and the food still superbly prepared. Newly remodeled with a spacious banquet room and two new bars, both overlooking the river, it beckons you in.
