The issue of Miranda rights is interesting for defense but what is missing is the answer to this question: Did Rep. Allen know his Miranda rights before they would be given to him? I'm dismayed by someone in legislative authority saying that they didn't know their Miranda rights. With all the times people have been told their Miranda rights I suspect that a lot of people know them and would agree that they knew them at the time they were arrested; especially a legislator. If he didn't he isn't qualified to be in this position. But I would ask him if he knew his Miranda rights. If so, then being read his Miranda rights should and must not be an issue.
